The Mahindra Motorbikes are finally out. They are being called the “Mahindra Mojo” and the “Mahindra Stallio”. These names are pretty cool. Mahindra 2 Wheelers have been live-tweeting the entire event. Aamir Khan being named the brand ambassador was a pleasant surprise. The launch and the pictures from the events are live on their official Facebook Page.

I was present at the launch and I had a good chance to see these bikes up close. I have managed to get hold of the specifications of both the bikes. The most amazing thing about these bikes is the fact that you will get 4 years warranty and 8 time service option which is an industry first. They are putting the customer at ease with such good benefits. I cannot stress enough about this wonderful option which will change the automotive industry forever.

Mahindra Mojo:

Mahindra Mojo has an excellent design approach. It is nothing like any Indian Bike ever seen. This bike is easily comparable to other international bikes in matters of performance as well as look and feel. Other technical Specs are:

Mahindra Mojo Review

Mahindra 2 Wheelers have just launched 2 new bikes among much fanfare and anticipation. The new bikes are called the “Mojo” and “Stallio” respectively. Mahindra has debuted in the motorcycle field with these two great looking bikes and its safe to say that these bikes have set an industry standard due to their phenomenal design aesthetic and powerful features.

The Mojo has the feel of a supercar on 2 wheels. It looks uber stylish compared to other bikes in the Indian Market. The bike has been designed and tested in Italy and its retro, mean machine look is enough to sway bikers. Both the bikes have been designed by Mr Alberto Strazzari, CEO, Engines Engineering. The bikes borrow heavily from the Italian school of motorbike design but still retain all the features that are necessary for a smooth riding experience on Indian Roads, and this makes them international players as they can now compete with superbikes across the world. The Mojo is priced attractively at 1.75 lakhs INR. My first impression of both the bikes has been good. I attended the launch of these bikes and I was blown away by the looks of them. I had the good fortune to speak to Mr. Viren Popli, Senior Vice- President, Strategy & Marketing, Two Wheeler Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. He elaborated on the bike and what it stood for. He said that this bike is being positioned as a modern classic. He said, “The styling of the bike cannot be categorized under one specific category, closest it can be termed as a lean power cruiser. One look at the bike and you know that this is the styling which will be accepted by developed market where styling has gone a full circle, but how an Indian customer will react to it only time will tell.”

The Mojo has a solid exoskeleton and bare-boned look. It is meant to be tough and at the same time, sophisticated. The Mojo sports technology such as liquid cooling and the Ducati Energia Electronic Fuel Injection system which facilitates real-time air-fuel mixture measurement. Technology like liquid cooling exists in most cars and its application to a motor-bike shows the innovation of Mahindra 2 Wheelers. Besides this, the bike has the biggest petal brakes and radial tyres that a motorcycle can sport in India. The petal brakes help keep the wheel base clean automatically without any manual effort. The brakes can function flawlessly under any condition. This feature enhances their life and the combination of radial calipers helps improve the performance manifold. The critical factor for any bike to perform are the tyres. The Mojo sports advanced rear tyres with tubeless technology.These 150 mm tyres held deliver rock solid stability and balance irrespective of the speed. The engine is an advanced one featuring DOHC technology with 4 valves which helps the engine breathe better and result in better combustion. This helps give more fire-power to the vehicle. At first the inverted shock absorbers seemed strange to me but on further thought I noticed that the bike design required such a measure. This optimzation of the bike internals can only be seen on the purest racing breeds. The horizontal mono-shock rear suspensions will play an important role in handling rough Indian roads. The radial calliper disc brakes are impressive and will help bikers gain more control of the road. The LED tail lights are visible atleast a mile away and will be very helpful in making the ride safer. The extended long seats is designed with much thought to avoid contact with the fuel tank (which usually becomes hot while riding in the sun on all bikes) The bike has been given a good naked feel by doing away with a lot of cables. The most prominent I noticed was the speed sensor at the rear wheel which relays information to the speedometer. Also a mention for the height of the bike, my friend who is 5.11ft and me 5.4ft both were lucky to sit on the Mojo and feel the handling of the bike. The bike almost feels made for the person who sits on it. It doesn’t feel too tall or too low. It gives a nice cruise posture when you’re in contact with the handles. Other innovative features include twin retro headlamps with pilot LEDs, dual exhausts, lightweight alloy wheels and digital display. I can see this bike wiping out all its competition on the roads. These are indeed exciting times for the Indian Motorcycle Industry.

All these features that have been added to the bike without compromising the design in any way. This makes it one of the best bikes to have been produced in India. I am getting restless to test drive this beast and for the Mojo to go on sale next January.
